Shopping locally just got easier, thanks to a partnership between the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce and ShopCity.com, a company dedicated to promoting local commerce online.

The Chamber is the first in the country to launch its own local version of the Web site -- ShopMountainView.com -- designed to promote and support local businesses.

"There's been a big push in cities to promote 'shop local,'" said Oscar Garcia, Chamber president and CEO. "We ourselves launched a Shop Local program back in September."

The site is part Facebook, part Yelp and part Yellow Pages. Through it, Mountain View's businesses and organizations can create their own page where they list store hours, contact information and other details, as well as promote events or even sell their wares in the "community marketplace." Users can leave reviews.
